‘claylines’, along with ‘landforms’, ‘haybales’ and ‘the silver darlings were commissioned as temporary landscape installations. ‘claylines’ was a Scotland’s Year of the Artist’ residency in collaboration with Kyra Clegg. It took place at Errol Brickworks in Perthshire, the oldest remaining brickworks in Scotland. ‘landforms’ was commissioned by the Welsh Development Agency, formed with china clay waste, it was intended as a temporary enhancement of Cardiff Central rail corridor for waiting trains during engineering works. ‘haybales’ was one of a number of artist commissions from Crawford Art Centre in St Andrews celebrating the surrounding farming community. The three land installations slowly collapsed, returning to the earth and were eventually colonised by the indigenous wild grasses and flowers.
