Many public art commission briefs share a requirement that the artist propose creative interventions that will enhance a new build interior or regenerate a neglected stretch of land. Jane approaches this role with research, consultation and collaboration to produce a relevant site specific design solution. Much of the work created in this way is for social gathering as with the small performance spaces in the grounds of Dykebar Hospital in Paisley and St. Fillan’s Primary School in Glasgow. Environmental designs for four Glasgow Schools, the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital and Murray Royal in Perth offer harmonious interiors. The Walking Way connects Fraserburgh’s town centre with its seafront and the amphitheatre at Sheffield Hallam University are both functional designs for robust public realm sites.
