Jane Kelly was born in Glasgow and brought up there and in Dublin. She is a visual artist now based on the west coast of Scotland. She has a wide range of studio and commissioned practice that derived originally from her traditional Fine Art education at Birmingham College of Art and progressed by later work in Cultural Studies as a mature student at the University of Birmingham. Her creative development has also been informed by collaborations with architects, engineers, landscape architects, artists and enlightened clients in education, healthcare and horticulture across the UK. She makes images, objects, gardens and landworks inspired by the immediate environment of a project and also in response to wider ecological issues. Her aim is to take an exploratory holistic approach of close looking and deep listening. She employs organic principles and sustainable materials to arrive at original site specific research, concepts, designs and creations.
